Winter Fun

So, I'm finally getting around to putting up our pictures of Christmas Break. As you can see we had a lot of fun. As far as we could tell, Joseph loved his first Christmas. We went up to Schoharie NY and stayed with our VanDerwerken grandparents for almost a week. While we were there we ventured out into the cold and not only sledded on Grandpa VanDerwerken's authentic "Flexible Flyer" (He said he bought it at an auction because he had always wanted one as a little kid and hadn't been able to get one then), ice skated on the pond (we bought ice skates at Goodwill the night before we left), and played fox and geese out in the snow with the little cousins. I've realized last year when it snowed that fox and geese is not a two person game (We tried to play once) so it was fun to have cousins around.

We had fun being with family and enjoying the nice Schoharie weather. On Christmas Eve we had a family talent show. I played the flute with Hannah (10) and Seth pulled off some nice Russian dancing. It was a great trip.



Joseph had fun in his little snowsuit that we got from my Sister Rachel. He stayed pretty warm and even got to go sledding.

A good view of the driveway. On Saturday night the driveway was so icy, Aunt Debbie couldn't drive her van up it. I was a little worried we wouldn't be able to make it out Sunday morning, but Grandpa didn't seem worried at all. (I guess he's lived there for a little while). And the next morning we were just fine.







Joseph got a nice present from Aunt Stephanie. Just wait til you see the hat she got him.





Here's a picture of the treasure that we put at the end of the treasure hunt. We had Ethan, Hannah and Jackson all excited and running all over the farm. They only thing they were really disapointed about was that they didn't get to see the elf that left all the clues. They thought they would probably find a little elf at the end.

Sledding with Mom. We had fun sledding down the front yard. As you can tell, it wasn't very steep . . . We tried sledding in the back yard, but got nervous because we were almost running into tractors, threshers and all kinds of other stuff.


We wanted to see the old family pictures, so we had to go up in the attic and find them. We had a lot of fun hearing stories and looking at the family pictures. We got laughing pretty hard and even got Grandpa to chuckle.





This is what happens if you are around too many VanDerwerkens. I guess basketball is in their blood.

Here are just a few of the fun things we did back in New Haven. We went to the YMCA a few times and swam. Joseph even joined in the fun. We also had a ward New Year's Eve Party with the youth, which ended up being really fun.
