Joseph turns 18 months on Saturday and Kenny is almost 5 months. They have been fun to watch lately. He knows a lot and knows how to communicate it.
A couple of days ago, I took Joseph and Kenny to story time at the library. Joseph was really interested in the story, which was exciting. At most of the story times we've been to, he's been much more interested in the other kids. The lady who did the story time started reading, "Three little kittens have lost their mittens." Joseph, who had been intently listening, now left the circle and came over and climbed across Kenny and I. I figured he had gotten bored, but he had a look on his face like he had something important to do. He walked over to the Christmas tree that was in the children's part of the library, and pulled off an ornament. To my surprise it was a mitten, cut out of construction paper. He walked back over, into the story time circle and handed the lady the mitten. Everybody laughed. Then he gave me a little look that said, "There. That's taken care of."
Yesterday I went to mutual and left Joseph and Kenny home with Seth. Seth said that he was trying to read Joseph stories , but Kenny was fussy and he didn't know what to do with Kenny. He asked Joseph what he should do and Joseph pulled Seth up out of his seat, walked into the living room and pointed at the car seat. Seth said, "ok", grabbed the car seat and took it in the bedroom and put Kenny in it. Kenny sat there happily holding his feet, while Seth read Joseph some stories. Joseph was just helping Dad figure out what to do.
Kenny's been fun lately too. Kenny just loves Joseph and will put up with a lot of what he does. Kenny loves watching people, laughing, being tickled, and smiling. He tried rice cereal for the first time and is getting a tooth!
What a treat to watch the videos of Joseph and Kenny. Joseph is really asleep and can't wake up and in the third one, he really knows what project he is doing and is concentrating as he works. Isn't it fun to watch them play. Play is very serious stuff to children. Don't underestimate what they are doing.
ReplyDeletethat was so fun! Out of all the ages I've had kids at, one is my very favorite age. Now I wish I had a one year old! The falling asleep video is precious. It reminds me of Andrew at that age - once he fell asleep like that, but his little hand kept putting apple pie in his mouth. The rest of him was completely limp, and he couldn't open his eyes, but he ate the whole apple pie piece, lol!
